Lacey
This is a Therapy visit that will always be remembered: We were taken into a locked day room by a nurse. As we entered the room you could hear a pin drop as there wasn't a sound. There were many patients in wheel chairs all around the room. There was no reaction to seeing Lacey in her stroller. I pushed Lacey next to a lady and asked if she would like to pet the doggie. There was no response. Then I asked her if she would like to pet Lacey. She then started wacking Lacey, I took her hand and rubbed Lacey's back, all of sudden she smiled then there were tears in her eyes and she looked at me and said dogggggggggg. I turned around and saw the RN that was escorting us with tears in her eyes too. She looked at me and said I never heard her speak before. I'm thankful that I had Lacey's stroller to hang on to as my knees turned into jelly and we were able to leave the room. All in all that's what Pet Therapy is about.

Lucky
Lucky crossed over the rainbow bridge on 3/26/07 He was full of love in his heavy-beating heart and will be missed by all who knew him at the rescue. Lucky was a gentle soul who was found by Melanie, one of our kind volunteers, Melanie took the trouble to pull him off the street, hoping to locate his owners who surely could never abandon such a wonderful, smart, kind dog like Lucky. Melanie brought him to the rescue where he found love, lots of treats, daily walks, car rides, and outreaches to attend, hoping for a good home. Instead, his home and his family were all the volunteers at the rescue and he died with dignity and little pain. Lucky was never any trouble to all who knew him and he stayed comfortably in his blanket-laden crate and the warmth in his eyes showed us how grateful he was for the attention that he received in the last several months of his life. We tip our hat to you, ol' gent, and we bid you a farewell for now...
