Harley came to us from a shelter in Georgia. She is about 20 months old, and weighs between 55 and 60 lbs (she is full grown). She lived with another dog, and his owner became ill and also had to care for his 2-year-old granddaughter. It was just too much for him. Harley's mom was a purebred German Shepherd; it looks like the dad might have been a Lab.
Harley is an energetic dog who needs an active home. She wants to play for hours, but when she is fully exercised and played with, she is calm and cuddly.
Harley has lived with a toddler and another dog. She seems to be fine with cats.
She has had obedience training. Harley loves to play fetch. Harley is housetrained (but might need some re-training to her new home, of course).
Harley's foster dad says "Harley is a very easy dog. She is housetrained - no accidents ever. She knows to bark to go out. She sits for her food and is not food- or toy- aggressive. Harley loves all dogs. She definitely needs a big yard and an active family. She loves to play and be praised. Harley really is 100% energy when playing outside, she loves fetch and will play it until she passes out. She sleeps wonderfully through the night, sleeps in her crate with the door open and seems to like it, hangs out in there when she just wants her time. When she is done playing, she is an absolute cuddle buddy. She will lay on the couch with her head on your lap and just hang out calmly. She came up with some paperwork about having allergies so she can only be on a grain-free soy- and wheat-free food and they said the previous owner could only give her grain-free salmon and sweet potato food because chicken, beef and lamb upset her stomach. so we only have her on grain-free salmon and sweet potato, and she loves it."
Harley's adoption fee is $350.
