Rocky is a 40 lb. 1 1/2 year-old sweetheart who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina. His foster family started calling him Rocky and the name stuck!
We're not sure what mix of dog he is, but it looks like it could be a mix of Lab and Bulldog. Rocky's brother is Cecil, aka Ozzie, and he looks completely different - a scruffy terrier mix.
Rocky is just the sweetest thing. He has the most gentle personality. Very docile, but not shy. He will greet you with a friendly wagging tail and loves to be loved on and petted. He doesn't jump up a lot, and isn't a huge licker, but if you move to a different room he will follow at your feet and lie where ever you are.
He is so good with his foster "sister", Maggie, who is a lot to take. She's extremely hyper and never lets up on him. Even if he's had enough and just wants to sleep, she will keep pawing at him to play and biting at his ears and he will just lie there and take it with no signs of aggression of any kind. He would be wonderful with other dogs, or children of any age.
Rocky doesn't have tons of energy, he's more of the laid back observer who will sit with you and watch TV than go for a jog. James and Maggie can go for a 10 mile run, while Rocky and I catch up on Grey's Anatomy together!
He's not over weight. You can see his rib outlines as he moves, but he's very stocky.
I haven't heard him bark once since we've had him. He's completely house broken, and knows Sit, Come, to stay off the furniture, and he picked up night night very quickly, which is what we say when it's time to go in the crate at night.
He gets so excited in the morning when he gets out of the crate. He and Maggie run for the slider as soon as they get out and we let them out and you can watch them rolling in the backyard together jumping on each other having a blast.
Rocky gets very timid when he's scolded. He cowers and tries to hide and stays that way for a half hour or more. He was only scolded twice so far, for trying to steal shoes to chew! He's just being a puppy.
All in all, he is an absolutely wonderful dog. Extremely friendly, loving, and docile. After his bath his coat shone so silky bright black. He's a very handsome gentleman.
