Layla is a 14 month old, spayed, female shepherd mix dog, approximately 35 pounds. She is up to date with her shots and has tested negative for heartworm. She is on Heartguard and Frontline. Layla is semi-housebroken because her former owner did not have the time to train her and she has been surrendered because he is moving and can no longer keep her.

Layla is a very playful dog who likes to play with her squeeky toys and especially loves to play catch with her ball. If you throw it, she will chase it and bring it back to you. Layla comes to you when she is called. She knows the command of sit and also knows how to give you her paw. We are working on stay and down. Layla sits nicely for her treats and loves to have her tummy rubbed. She walks well on a leash and loves to be outside. She may make a good running or jogging partner or could be a candidate for agility.

When she first meets someone, whether it be dog or human, she gets very excited but when given time she will usually settle down. We consider her to be a high energy dog and definitely would need a fenced yard or a safe place where she can be exercised.
Layla would be best with an experienced dog owner. She could benefit from obedience school and it is a good bonding experience for owner and dog. She may be timid with cats because she only has had limited exposure to them. Layla would do well in a home with only older children.

Layla deserves a chance at a good home with people who will love her and be around most of the time. She loves attention and once she gets to know you she will be your buddy for life. She would make an excellent family pet and has a lot of love to give
