Update on Badger!  Badger has found his forever home and will go home shortly!  Please see our other available dogs and New Dogs Coming Soon and save another life!

Hello everyone!  My name is Badger and my foster mommy would like to tell you about me;  you can apply to adopt me now and I will be ready to go home by August 10, 2010:
After getting to know Badger, we decided that Jake is a more appropriate name.  “Badger” makes him sound like a nuisance and he is anything  but that!  He is a gentle, loving dog who does not jump on us even when he’s excited.  His floppy-eared, tongue-swinging- run would make anyone smile.
Because of his difficult past, we have noticed a couple of things that seem to make him nervous.  He does not like to go into a car.  Once he is in, he sits quietly during the ride, but getting him in is a challenge.  He also needs to be coaxed into his crate at night.  He eventually goes in, but needs some tenderness and understanding to help him.  We are working on making him comfortable with these situations and we see an improvement. After all, he is just a little puppy boy and has much to learn and wants to learn and to please us.
Jake is eating well, sleeping through the night in his crate, and has not had a single accident in our home since we’ve taken him in.  He is excited to meet everyone who comes in our house and is equally excited to play with other dogs.  We have not seen any signs of aggression.  We also have 2 cats in the house.  One cat is very interested in Jake, and Jake is very respectful. He only gets close if the cat allows him to.  After only 2 days, they sat in the same room as though they had been friends for a while.
Jake loves to run and play with our children.  He can play endless games of fetch.  He likes to go on short walks … not too long, or he sits and must be carried home  : ) What a baby!  He likes to dig holes and lay in the cool soil … he’s very smart.  He sits for his snacks and is starting to “shake hands” on command.  He likes to chew on his toys and on towels.  The best of all … Jake smiles when he’s happy, which is all the time now.
Jake is truly a remarkable pup.  We will be sad to see him go.  He has become our friend in such a short time.  I’m sure he will do the same to the hearts of another family who shows him the love he deserves.    Please apply to adopt Badger, aka Jake, at:  www.wagoninn.rescuegroups.org and go to website features, forms and applications and please fill out an adoption application for Badger, that lovely pup who wants to please you and who would love his forever home.  Many thanks!
