About Negri

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with White
  • Current Size: 35 Pounds
  • Current Age: 21 Years 9 Months (best estimate)

Negri is a sweet little girl with a sense of humor.  She gets along with my dog, who is only a little bit bigger than she.  She is skittish around my sister's bigger dogs.

Negri has overcome much of the skittishness she exhibited when she first arrived from Puerto Rico and went for a walk around the neighborhood.  Where once she was afraid of every car that went by, now she walks with confidence.  Very loud and large vehicles do scare her, such as garbage trucks and the like, but she has come a long way in this regard.

Negri is not entirely comfortable around my sister's boyfriend, who is a big man.  She has approached him and sniffed his hand while he was sitting down; however, she does bark at him if suddenly confronted with his presence (especially if he is standing).

Her sense of humor is evident in the mornings.  On weekends, when I try to stay in bed a little late, she gets me up!  One day she gently mouthed my hand as it hung over the side of the bed.  Another day she actually tried to pull the sheet off me!  Lately her thing is to play with one of my slippers, which makes me get up so that she doesn't chew it up!  Smart little cookie....

She has learned to "sit" for me to put her leash on; she knows "come" (though it helps immensely to have a treat waiting for her, as she can be easily distracted); I think she is learning "tinkle"; and she knows "no" and "off".

She is almost housebroken, with the occasional pee accident every few days or so.  Crating her helps in this regard.  She likes being in her crate, going in it often to lie down when the door remains open.

She is generally a happy girl, always wagging her tail and enjoying attention.  She has begun to give me little kisses, though she isn't a big kisser like some dogs. If you're looking for a gentle loving dog, ask for more information about Negri the special dog from Puerto Rico.
