Macie was found by animal control in southwest Louisiana after being hit by a car.  Macie was gravely injured and animal control sent a plea out to local rescues. Our partner rescue, Precious Paw Prints, got Macie to the emergency vet immediately.

Macie suffered a broken pelvis and hip. There was initial fear of a brain or spine injury since Macie could not stand up and seemed off cognitively. Luckily with some TLC in the hospital, Macie made a wonderful recovery. She had FHO surgery a week later to fix her broken leg.  

Macy arrived in NJ on February 11 and has been recovering here.

Macie loves her people, enjoys walks, and likes to steal toys and bones from the other dogs in the house.  She initially is a little shy when she meets strangers but quickly is happy to see them.  Macie is quite a lap dog, loves to snuggle in bed, and follows her family everywhere.  We think she'd prefer a home where someone is around much of the day since she likes company so much. Macie is housetrained on a good schedule - she needs to be taken out regularly.  She prefers to potty off-leash, so a yard would be ideal for her.  

Macie had new xrays taken in NJ and is healing well.  She still hikes up her leg but will put weight on it.  This will improve over time. Macie has been spayed and microchipped, and she is up to date on vaccines. She tested negative for heartworm.  Macie's adoption fee is $400.
