Cosmo is a super sweet Malitipoo-ish (??) mix who came from the NYC shelter on 11/11. Upon arrival, it was clear he had significant mobility issues. We got an appointment at BAC on 11/12 and Dr. Behan diagnosed degenerative joint disease from non-use and/or poor genetics.
Despite any arthritic limitations he may have, Cosmo is a happy, playful (loves his stuffed squeaky toys) little guy who just wants love and attention which he will happily return ten-fold.
Cosmo is in the middle of physical therapy with a canine therapist and he seems to really enjoy it. We go through a combination of massage/stretching/laser (soft tissue work) and the underwater treadmill. We are trying to determine what works best to manage any pain (although he's so stoic and never complains so it's hard to tell) and improve mobility with arthritis meds and therapy.
Cosmo will never run a marathon or perform in the
Iditarod but he will steal your heart.
