About Jada
Status: Adopted!
Species: Dog
General Color: Gray/Silver/Salt & Pepper with White
Jada is the guest of a home owner in Toms River who graciously allowed us the use of his kennel space to get her out of the horrific conditions she was forced to endure for the first 2 1/2 years of her life. We were told that she could stay temporarily but she had to be out by June 15 when the husband goes on a business trip. Well all that has changed now - Jada is now welcome to stay as long as she needs in order to find a suitable home. The family has gotten very attached and doesn't want hr uprooted unless she is going to her new permanent place to live. They report that Jada is a terrific dog who is shy but getting better every day. She showers her foster family with kisses and tons of affection as a way of saying thanks for getting me out of that house and giving me a clean, comfortable and safe haven. She just needs a patient home that will understand the deplorable conditions she has been raised in. Jada is 60 lbs and is now totally vetted. Jada kept herself pretty clean despite the conditions she was forced to live in. Will probably be easy to train and just wants to please her people. She was the worst on a leash but has come around nicely and now takes walks with her new foster mom Again, she also needs time to come around and just be a dog. She was a fan favorite at the vet and is easily the most friendly and outgoing of the bunch.
All these dogs lived in horrid conditions and needed to be removed ASAP. Their "home" was an un air-conditioned garage in plastic vari-kennels with absolutely no air circulation. The stench was nauseating and the dogs got next to no socialization. They are all timid but we see no aggression - they just need to be shown how to be a dog. There were 10 pups living in this squalor and all of them needed a new place desperately. They do have nice temperaments - they were just horribly neglected and never shown any love or affection. They lived in their plastic kennels all day and night and that is all they knew. They will all be 3 years old in September and it is time to get them outside in a yard where they will have the chance to experience life on the 'outside'. They were absolutely filthy and the first thing they got after being 'sprung' was a good bath at KatandK9 in Brick, NJ. Most of them have sores on their legs and lower bodies from sitting and laying in their own urine since they never got out of their kennels. All will be spayed or neutered - the owner had some grandiose plans of "showing" these dogs to make them 'champions'! Yeah, right. He was telling me how much their 'bloodlines' can fetch on the open market and I asked..."what good is that if they dogs are left to sit in their own urine and feces all day and night"....I got no answer.
I am still stunned by what I witnessed that day. And the most shocking thing is that the owner didn't think he was doing anything wrong. While he must give these 10 up - he is allowed to keep another 10 he has living in the house (at least the main house dogs are clean). All I wanted to do was hug these guys and tell them that they were going to be safe now...but I couldn't promise them that. Plus the fact that they are were so filthy that it was difficult to even touch them, (we left and went straight to a public restroom to wash the stench off ourselves). They will all need to be vetted and spayed/neutered so donations would be most welcome. Please open your hearts and wallets to help us help these poor dears. They only know the inside of a dark, dank and dreary place. Let's work together to bring some sunshine into their lives.
