Eli and his brother Frank were removed with a few other poodle-looking mixes from a hoarding situation in southern Louisiana. He was rescued by our friends at Misfit Rescue, and after some TLC, he arrived in NJ. It's not clear what his mix is -- he could be a poodle/maltese mix? He doesn't seem to shed.
Eli is very shy at first, and barks at strangers and sometimes even tries to nip their heels when they're not looking, but he adores his foster mom and dad and is always giving kisses and jumping on them. He is meeting a lot of strangers, and is improving every day.
Eli loves to play with other dogs and is happiest when running around in the yard. We'd love for him to go to a home with another (confident) dog.
Eli enjoys going for walks but gets so excited that he can't contain himself - he goes ahead and behind and jumps on his foster dad. We think he's just so thrilled to see the outside world.
Eli is not housetrained, so is wearing a belly band (diaper) in the house. He's starting to understand that outside is the place to potty, but he still is having accidents.
Eli will need a patient, nurturing family that will teach him that strangers are good and not to be feared. He's getting exposure in his foster home, and the more strangers he meets, the more comfortable he'll become. Little children are not recommended in his home due to the heel nipping and fear/excitement barking.
Eli has been neutered and microchipped and he is up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $400.
