Moke is an adorable 8 year old boy who appears to be a low-rider cattle dog mixed with corgi, also know as a "cowboy corgi"!

Moke came to us from our partner rescue community in Louisiana where he was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him.

Moke is an incredibly sweet, smart, happy and chill dog who is very well-behaved and house-trained. He's got great energy for his age and is such a fun and goofy boy. And look how handsome he is with his striking coat, soft fur and those ears! 

His favorite things are:

• being outside stalking squirrels in the backyard and on walks
• stealing toys from his foster sister's mouth, and
• being with his humans--if you leave the room, so does Moke, and  he will find another spot close by to relax with you--he's like a shadow! 

Moke gets along well with his 2 female doggy siblings however he is dog selective, and only seems to like female dogs. He is reactive to other dogs and will bark at them. So any introductions to other dogs should be slow and controlled. And hold off on dog parks and no cats!

Moke's adopter will need to attend to some medical needs. Unfortunately when Moke came to NJ he was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in both back knees, which affects his mobility. Most times he will be fine and you'd never know it. He does have a problem with stairs, he can go up a few slowly (but not too many) and needs a little lift onto the sofa and in the car. His condition has improved greatly since he came here from the south--he's now walking great and running around easier like a bucking bronco! However, as he gets older the condition may progress. He's taking prescription joint supplements, pain medication and a special diet which have definitely helped, so will need to be continued. And although he loves walks and they can be frequent, they just need to be kept somewhat on the shorter side (like him!).

Moke's teeth aren't in the best shape, probably due to years of being kenneled and most likely biting at his cage. He had 4 teeth removed in April, and he's eating and chewing fine-trust me he loves food!

We are looking for a quiet home where Moke can get around easily so we're looking for a home with minimal stairs in/out and where most of the family stays on the lower level, since he can't manage steps well.

And a physically-secured, private, fenced-in yard is required for him because he LOVES sitting in the grass, sniffing around and protecting us from those squirrels. 

Moke loves meeting people and is really sweet when he meets kids.

Moke is micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, tested heartworm negative and was neutered here in NJ. Moke's adoption fee is $300.
