All it took was one picture and it was love at first sight for my 6 year-old son. “He is so cute! I want that dog very, very much…more than any other dog,” he said.
Our poodle of 16 years recently passed on and we really weren’t looking for another, but there was something in Eddy’s eyes and my son’s reaction that made me take the chance.
Eddy is a 10-month-old white Schnauzer saved by the Wag On Inn Rescue in Freehold after his owner decided she didn’t want him anymore. Eddy was in good health but neglected emotionally. He doesn’t know how to play like a dog, he can’t fetch or play ball and would rather fling around a dustpan brush than a doggie toy. The one thing he wants most is to be held and loved.
Eddy is bright, funny and enthusiastic and more importantly he has done something I didn’t think any dog could do -- appeal to every one in my family. The tentative 4-year-old is not afraid of him, the 8-year-old with allergies isn’t wheezing, the excitable 6-year-old has found the perfect playmate, and the Dad who “didn’t want any more dogs” has a new T.V. lap companion. Eddy has warmed our hearts and brought smiles and laughter to the whole family.
Thank you Wag On Inn Rescue for saving Eddy and bringing him into our lives!
