Penny is a beautiful Yorkie or Silky Terrier mix who is looking for a home. Penny was born around 6/18/23 so is under 1 year old. She won't weigh more than 11 or so lbs full grown.

Penny and her friend Money, who is also available for adoption, were surrendered to a shelter in southern Louisiana when their owner could not care for them properly. Our partner rescue got them out of the shelter, and got them groomed and vetted.

Penny is a happy girl who enjoys being petted and loved on.  She is timid when first meeting people and dogs, but ends up playing nicely with other dogs, big and small.  Once she realizes that someone is safe, she is friendly and sweet, but at first she hides behind her foster parents and sometimes shakes with nerves.  Penny enjoys going for walks in the neighborhood and has been good in the car.

Penny is a typical terrier - very energetic and a big barker. She's still a puppy and therefore needs a lot of exercise. She's not a lap dog until she's tired out. Penny isn't totally housetrained, but she's learning.  She isn't happy in a crate. Penny needs a patient home that is willing to provide behavior training and a lot of attention.  We do not think she is a good match for a home where she'd be alone a good deal.

Penny is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworms. Her adoption fee is $550.

Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
