Miss P (Pelahatchie) came to us from Wolf Pond Sanctuary in Mississippi, where she had lived for years in an outdoor kennel with a concrete floor. She was treated for heartworm on 12/29, 2/1, and 2/2 and is doing great. She actually just tested negative for heartworms at the end of May! 

Miss P is the kindest and most gentle dog I have ever met. She is truly an angel. She is shy around new people but will let them pet her. She loves her foster-sibling Chihuahua and every other dog she encounters in the neighborhood. She walks very well on a leash. She loves to be hugged and pet. She LOVES mealtime and gets so excited that she hops, tap dances, and barks. She will also let out a few barks at strange sights (like deer). It is hilarious!

She is acclimating very well to her new life outside of rural Mississippi, but remains scared of loud noises (like fireworks and thunder) and looks in amazement towards new sounds of any kind (like cars or trains). It is a whole new world for her. She also does not like stairs, as she probably has had no experience with them up until this point.

Pelahatchie stays on the first floor of her foster home. She
is a very easy-going and mellow girl who would thrive in a quiet home where she can do what she loves: roam around slowly, watch TV and nap, and eat. A yard where she can take her
sweet time sniffing would be an added bonus. A canine sibling, or a neighborhood with a lot of  doggy friends to say hello to, would be great as well. Her Mississippi caretakers also said she was great with cats.

She is such a special girl and would make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a sweet, slow-paced Southern lady. 

Pelahatchi is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She had a complete bloodwork done at the end of April and everything was normal. Her  adoption fee is $400.
