About Cindy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 13 Years 10 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes
Cindy came to us from Puerto Rico.  She is about 3 years old. Poor Cindy was attacked by a dog in Puerto Rico and as a result, she is nervous around other dogs.  If the other dog is calm, she's fine.  (She's living with another dog in her foster home.)  However, it will take her some time to adjust to a new dog.  We would say she's good with some dogs.

Cindy had to be shaved after the attack, but her hair's growing back in and she's looking beautiful now.

Here's what her foster mom says about Cindy:

"Cindy is a very different dog from a few weeks ago... She can still be very skittish and fearful around some people, dogs and new situations but bounces back more quickly. For every two steps forward, there's often one back, but she continues to progress and is a great little dog. Her coat is coming in nicely (non-shedding!) and she's quiet and very well-behaved around the house. She will alert you to strangers but doesn't bark unnecessarily. She loves going for walks and car rides and is very curious. She really likes kids (they get all the kisses) but very young children and too much activity might overwhelm her. She is doing so much better with her foster brother, but he's learned to leave her alone so she doesn't growl at him. She has shown a playful side to some dogs as long as they aren't too rambunctious or aggressive, so another calm dog might work for her.

Cindy does bond strongly to her family and has some separation anxiety so a patient family will need to work with her to desensitize her when she's left alone. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night but doesn't like being left in there for any length of time if nobody is home. Someone who works from home or is home most of the time would be great for her. Cindy is very smart and eager to please, but a loving family who understands and can work with her to overcome her fears would be the perfect match for this great little girl!"

As you can tell from the above, her foster family is in love with Cindy - she's that kind of dog!

Cindy is almost 100% housetrained; if she can't get outside, she'll use a piddle pad.

In the last video below, you can see her playing with Ana, another Wag On Inn pup looking for a new home.  She is really enjoying playing with Ana, which is great!
